Mello and Matt kidnapped Beyond, and while the blonde firecracker might try to pass it off as just a friendly Wammy’s reunion, Beyond knows better. Light and the other Kira Task Force members try to save the one they know as Rue on their own terms, but the Federal Bureau of Investigation formally announces that Rue Ryuzaki is a missing person and offer to help find him. Never mind the fact that all of L’s findings have been broadcast to as an unknown location. Not everything is going as Kira planned anymore…

Seriously, wayyy too long posting, especially given that I've had this written for forever. Annnnd, yeah, this is the chapter that hits the ground running.

Just as Light believes he has the situation under control again, a signal originates from Task Force Headquarters, heading for an unknown destination. Beyond is aware this means that very shortly the other Wammy’s orphans will be involving themselves in the Kira Case, hoping to catch the murderer that killed their beloved role model, and believes that this foreknowledge gives him time to prepare.

Hello Christmas Break (or whatever holiday you'd like to name it after, that's fine with me, but I'm using Christmas because.) Time to go watch random movies and do all the stuff I never had time for and go watch the new Hobbit (this had better not been misdirected by Elves or Fran Walsh because if I wanted to go watch a movie about elves, I'd go watch the movies about the Simarillion they make in the future, and if I wanted to go watch a Romance which I really don't, I'd go do that instead) and all the different holiday/Christmas special events in all the games I play....
Most exciting.
In story news...oh, yeah, this is the chapter where Light suddenly gets a much more sympathetic portrayal than ever planned. Though he is still to blame for any and all Misa-bashing.
Oh, Another Note (heheh...okay, not funny, moving on) the things that come before the actual chapter are recaps of the previous chapter. In case anyone was confused by that.

Even for Beyond, who can see the lifespans and names as soon as he looks at a face, this is unexpected…

I did okay on that test, I think. I still don't understand the formation constant. I'm not sure I will ever understand the formation constant. BLAH. Thus, posting. Because posting and rereading stuff is fun. (Be glad I reread chapters before posting. Definitely found some stuff that MADE ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE AS WRITTEN.) Lack of beta --> some really weird stuff going on that you don't notice until you're reading it four years later.
Neither Beyond nor I really expected this chapter to happen. But it did and some stuff happened that's sort of important. I AM NOT BEYOND IN DISGUISE. You know, in case anyone actually thought that. Opinions of the hired character Beyond do not reflect opinions of fanfic writer.
Alucard and Beyond have some things in common. Just an observation.

Pretty sure both Beyond and I had way too much fun making Light answer questions about relationships. :D

Both sides need a little while to recuperate and rethink strategy. Beyond must reconfigure his plans for two and a half people on his side (Matsuda only counts as a half, because he cannot tell the former police officer everything), while Light, having miscalculated and attempted to send ‘Rue Ryuzaki’ to his death, must now come to terms with the fact that he has failed and find a way to make Rue useful without revealing too much information to the ‘brother of L’…
